INM and Allianz have confirmed their commitment to providing expert analysis and coverage of the GAA leagues with the announcement of a new sponsorship deal for the GAA podcast, ‘The Throw In’.
Hosted by Will Slattery and Michael Verney, the podcast features reactions, interviews, insights and analysis from some of the biggest names in GAA. With almost 165,000 listens during the 2018 league season and over 1 million listens since its launch in 2016*, the podcast has established itself as the place to go for quality league coverage.
According to Damien O’Neill, Head of Marketing and Communications, Allianz: “At Allianz we believe sport is a key lever in promoting social good. It’s with this belief that we are proud supporters of GAA and we are delighted to partner with INM on their Throw In podcast. We are also delighted that the Allianz Leagues have provided some good talking points with Will and Michael.”
Featuring Independent.ie’s top GAA correspondents as well as former legends of hurling and Gaelic football, the podcast consistently covers the biggest matches and the main talking points from both leagues.
“This partnership with Allianz is a great fit for us and one that everyone at Independent.ie is very excited about,” says Dave Courtney, Head of Sports Content at INM. “Our Throw In podcast has enhanced our GAA coverage and gone from strength to strength, allowing us to bring our listeners the widest range of expert comment and a wide variety of opinions on football and hurling.”
Following on from last year’s successful partnership, INM welcomed Allianz’s decision to come on board as official sponsors for a second year.
“We are absolutely delighted that Allianz are continuing to support us by sponsoring The Throw In podcast for a second year,” added Declan Fahy, Head of Digital Sales. “It has proven to be a perfect platform for our award-winning journalists to analyse the big talking points from the Allianz football and hurling leagues.”
As longstanding supporters of the GAA, Allianz have sponsored the Allianz Leagues for 27 years and Allianz Cumann na mBunscol for 25 years.
Allianz’s decision to return as the exclusive sponsor for The Throw In emphasises their long-term commitment to support and promote the GAA. The podcast is part of Independent.ie’s extensive coverage of the GAA leagues, helping fans to stay up to date with all the action from the hurling and football leagues.
